Articles of Faith

I. Concerning God
We believe in one God, self-existent, infinite in wisdom, power, justice, and goodness – the Creator and Governor of all things. (Duet. 33:27, Ps. 9:2; 1 Tim. 1:7; Isa. 44:6)

II. Concerning Christ
We believe that Christ possessed both a divine and a human nature, and was therefore both the Son of man and the Son of God. (Matt. 1:1; Ps. 2:7; Luke 1:3,4; Gal 4:4; II Cor. 5:19; John 1:1)

III. Concerning The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who inspired the prophets and the apostles, whose continual office is to lead humanity into a knowledge of the mind of God. (John 14:26; II Pet. 1:21; Acts 2:4,5; John 3:5; Rom. 8:2; Gal. 5:22)

IV. Concerning The Holy Scripture
We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by the Holy Spirit and that rightly interpreted they provide a perfect rule of faith and practice. (Heb. 1:1; II Pet. 1:21; II Tim. 3:16,17)

V. Concerning Sin and Salvation
We believe that man is by nature and by disobedience a guilty sinner in need of salvation but unable to save himself. In order to be saved he must be born again, repenting and accepting by faith Christ’s sacrificial atonement for sin. (Rom. 3:23; Isa. 53:6; Rom. 6:23; John 1:29; I Pet. 2:24; Acts 2:38)

VI. Concerning Repentance, Faith, and Baptism
We believe in the baptism of believers only by immersion symbolizing burial with Christ and resurrection to newness of life and the washing away of sins. This is a necessary qualification for church membership.

VII. Concerning The Lord’s Supper
We believe that the Lord’s Supper commemorates the suffering and sacrificial death of Christ. It was instituted by Him for the church and is intended only for His followers.

VIII. Concerning The Sabbath
We believe the seventh day of the week to be the sacred Sabbath of Jehovah. We believe that it should be kept holy in recognition of God’s will; in conformity with both the example and the teachings of Christ; as a fitting memorial of creation; and as a type of the saints’ rest in the Heavenly Home.  (Gen. 2:2; Ex. 20:8-11; Isa. 58:13,14; Matt. 5:17-19; Mk. 3:1-5; Heb. 1:11)

IX. Concerning Evangelism
We believe that Jesus Christ commissions us to proclaim the gospel, to make disciples, to baptize, and to teach observance of his words throughout the world and in all human relationships.
